Bringing Christ to Life in Our Lives

Dear Mosaic Family,

As we continue our examination of the Book of Colossians, one thing that seems quite apparent is that the Christians in Colossae are being told that there are sources of truth and security other than, or in addition to, Jesus Christ. When I last shared the Scriptures with you, we affirmed the supremacy of Christ and that He created and ruled over all things, including the things the Colossians thought they needed in addition to Him. So, we sit here in our comfortable seats in the 21st century and say to ourselves, "Those poor Colossians! How could they not know that Jesus is all they need?"

Well, let me ask you a question. If someone were looking at you from the outside, would they know by your words and actions that Jesus is all you need? Every one of us will find ourselves in a situation where our belief in the sufficiency of Christ will be challenged.

You may be there now.

We all experience those times of uncertainty where we think that if we just had something else - more money, more time, a different job, a different degree or credential, a different house, a different car, a different spouse or significant other, you name it - then we would be OK. In that respect, the challenges of our time are no different than those faced by the Colossians more than two centuries ago.

How do we get to the place where Jesus is really all we need, where we not only know it in our minds, but believe it in our hearts, and act it out in our lives? Let's see if we can reach that destination together, with the help of the Holy Spirit within us and the Lord who is in our midst whenever we gather in His name.

Loving you with an everlasting love,

Ron Miller
