Reintroducing Jesus, the Source of Joy (Christmas Eve Service)

Dec 24, 2022    Ron Miller

Dear Mosaic

“Joy to the world! The Lord is come!” This beloved Christmas hymn was written in 1719 and first sung to the arrangement we all know in 1848. While the carol's lyrics are an interpretation of Psalm 98, we don’t need to look beyond the Christmas story to learn that Jesus’ arrival on earth was an occasion for joy. Luke 2:10-11 says, “Then the angel said to them, ’Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’” In Jesus’ presence, we can find joy!

However, are all people experiencing these good tidings of great joy? Here in America, people who are hoping to find joy in Jesus are struggling because they don’t see joy in us, his disciples. As we quiet ourselves for a moment in this busy holiday season, I want you to meet Jesus again, so you may find joy once more and share it with others.

We’ll see you on Christmas Eve!
