Why Do You Follow Jesus?

Apr 6, 2025    Jamie Overholser

Mosaic family,

I would like you to sit with this question over the next couple of days: Why do you follow Jesus? Not, why do you go to church? Not, why do you have your quiet time or read through the Bible? Not, why do you serve? Not, why do you attend a small group? Why, ultimately, should any of us be following Jesus?

In John 6 there were many people who had to face the reality concerning their reasons for following Jesus. Was He simply a means to an end or was there more to Him? If there was more to Him, were they willing to believe without demanding He prove Himself one more time? And were they willing to keep following Jesus even though they may not have understood everything He said? Ultimately, were they willing to enter into the depth of union and communion with Jesus that He spoke of?

I would like you to spend time in John 6 before Sunday morning. If possible, read the entire chapter in at least 2 different translations. And maybe even listen to it in a third translation. To the King and For the Kingdom,

Jamie
