The Word Became Flesh
This Sunday, we will commence a study on the Gospel of John, which is distinct among the four Gospels. Matthew, Mark, and Luke are called the “synoptic” Gospels due to their similarities in narrative, sequence, and wording. “Synoptic” is derived from the Greek word synopsis, meaning “to see together.” In contrast, John’s account emphasizes the divine nature of Jesus and His identity as the Son of God, offering a more theological and contemplative perspective rather than merely recounting the events of His time on Earth. By the conclusion of our study, we hope that Jesus’ authority as the pre-existing Word – the Logos - present from the very beginning of creation, will inspire you, His character as The Good Shepherd will comfort you, and the promise of eternal life that comes from faith in the One who declares, “I Am” will strengthen you.
Additionally, we will delve into the life of John, “the disciple Jesus loved,” examining his life and his contributions to the New Testament.
I am looking forward to embarking on this journey with you!
Blessings,
Ron
