The Church's Mission
Dear Mosaic Family,
The church's mission stems from God's overarching mission, which has existed since creation. God's purpose is for humans to have a relationship with Him and reflect His image, which was broken by sin but is restored through Jesus Christ. The church is tasked with participating in God's mission, continuing Israel's mission, and furthering Jesus' kingdom mission, as well as the witness of the early church.
Key to this mission is both an inner and outer mission as well as maturity. Inner mission involves our relationship with God and fellow believers, focusing on living in obedience, spiritual growth, and training the next generation. Outer mission involves proclaiming God's glory to the world and making disciples. Spiritual maturity is the goal of the church, aiming for wholeness in Christ, as outlined in Ephesians 4:13-15.
The church's role is to be a witness of God's love, grace, and truth. This is not limited to preaching, but includes living differently, serving others, and fostering community. The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) is part of the mission, but it is broader than just evangelism—it encompasses relational growth, training, and transformation.
The church is God's tool to fulfill this mission, maturing believers and sharing the gospel to bring glory to God. The challenge is for individuals to identify their role and participate in fulfilling God's mission.
See you Sunday,
