The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
Hello Mosaic,
Many of us have celebrated Easter for the better part of our lives, and the resurrection of Jesus from the dead is celebrated in many ways and for many reasons, but did you ever think of it as a love story? Jesus Himself said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13), and He referred to Himself as the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep (John 10:11).
It’s one thing for someone to die for someone who has shown themselves worthy of our love and devotion, but Jesus didn’t wait for us to become worthy before He submitted to being arrested, scorned, spat upon, scourged, forced to carry the instrument of his execution to the top of a hill where He was nailed to that cross and died a horrible death. “But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). The fact that Jesus did all that for someone as messed up as you and me brings me to my knees in awe and gratitude. I love this time of the year because I know what His love means to me personally and how He changed my life forever. As we celebrate once again His emergence from the grave, His arms are open wide and inviting you into His loving embrace. This Easter, if you haven’t received the love He so generously offers you and me, isn’t it time? Oh, how He loves us!
He is Risen!
