Why Do We Serve?
We talk a lot at Mosaic Church about service to others, but not everyone may understand why or how. Jesus gave us the “why” when he commissioned us to “make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19). If people are going to hear the good news about Jesus Christ, someone has to tell them, and we have to win their trust first before they will listen (Romans 10:14). That means we can't practice Christianity as a spectator sport; Jesus wants us to get out of our seats and into the streets.
Jesus told his disciples, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Jesus loves us so much that He wants everyone to come to him and is waiting until He has been made known to everyone. That is where we come in.
As for the “how,” it isn't as hard as we may think. You don't have to be a biblical scholar or a prayer warrior, or anything that God didn't make you to be. All you need to do is be available and willing. This Tuesday at Miller Park from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm, we have a great opportunity to share Jesus with our neighbors in the community. The Community Fall Festival Trunk or Treat is a way to introduce Mosaic Church to people who may not know who or where we are and show them the love of Jesus with free candy and treats. If you would like to come out and help us, please see me after the service on Sunday. If you can't be there, please bring bags of candy to church for us to give away, or you can give us money after the service, and we'll use it to buy candy.
I look forward to sharing God's Word with you this Sunday!
Blessings,
Brian Stroud
