Instruction Manual for the Early Church
Dear Mosaic Family,
After mowing the grass Tuesday, I was famished and wanted a juicy cheeseburger and fries. For some strange reason, rational thinking won over and I settled on a chocolate peanut butter protein shake. However, Jennifer wasn’t home and this blender is one scary kitchen appliance! I was alone and needed an instructional manual. Fortunately, I was able to go to the product website and configure the blender (spoiler alert: it was only 2 pieces and it was very easy to put together). The ingredients were placed in the blender and 60 seconds later it produced one supersized delicious chocolate peanut butter protein shake.
Instruction manuals are helpful in all aspects of life, but especially with something new and unfamiliar. The Christians in the 1st century were in need of an instructional manual. The letters written by Paul, Peter, John, James, and Jude to believers were divinely inspired and profitable for teaching, reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
This week, we will look at Paul’s “further instructions” for the dear saints in Colosse. We will discuss having a mind of prayerfulness, walking in wisdom, and blessing others with the gracious power of the tongue.
See you Sunday,
Karl Records
